When buying gold jewelry, especially for your ring jewelry, you will want to take into consideration that there are two types of gold. There is yellow gold (what we consider gold), and there is white gold (this looks like silver or platinum).

The second consideration that you will want to make is what karat you would like your gold jewelry to be. Most ring jewelry for weddings will come in either 14K, 18K, or 24K. 24K will be the purest gold ring jewelry, however, it is also the softest. If you work a lot with your hands (most men do, and if you are a woman who plans to be at home a lot, you will, too), you will not want to purchase a 24K gold ring. You will want to go with a harder 14K or 18K gold ring. This will help against scratching, which makes ring jewelry look dull.
